Founded in 2001, Nelson Wilson Interiors’ mission is to create the best possible design solutions for every project. The full-service, New Orleans-based design firm specializes in residential projects. The firm’s two principals have more than 18 years of design experience and a client base that spans the country – from San Francisco to Miami and up to Toronto, Canada.
The design duo behind the brand work together as a team on all projects and share a passion for searching out and acquiring one-of-a-kind items that define their clients’ spaces. Adding their own artistry to projects, they often design custom accent pieces and have a flair for specialty lighting design.
DESIGN PRINCIPALS
KARIN NELSON
A native of Toronto, Canada, Karin Nelson received her Bachelor of Commerce and Associates Degrees from the University of Toronto in 1991. Karin has been working in the field of interior design since 1996, and relocated to New Orleans in 1998. She was drawn to the Crescent City due to its French heritage, unique architecture and multiple design influences.
With over 18 years of experience, Karin has been able to hone her signature, classic approach, and understands the relationship between furniture, fabrics and accessories as a necessary background to great interior design. She has two beautiful fur babies, Ozzy, a Stabyhoun, and Huey, a spunky rescue mix that bring her lots of happiness.
When not working, she can be found listening to live music or digging in the garden.
TROY WILSON
A native New Orleanian, Troy Wilson’s journey as a creative began at an early age after being diagnosed with Dyslexia. Turning an obstacle into an advantage, Dyslexia motivated him to hone his skills in the areas of design and the visual arts. Troy further refined his design talents while working with Expressions as a visual merchandiser and showroom designer, helping to develop their signature look at showrooms throughout the country.
After seven creative years with Expressions, Troy was recruited by Jacqueline Vance to design a line of rugs for her company. It was at Jacqueline Vance Rugs that Troy and Karin first met and discovered their shared mutual passion for interior design. It wasn’t long after meeting that the idea of forming a design partnership began to develop and in the spring of 2001, Nelson Wilson Interiors was born.
When not working, he can be found visiting with friends, hanging their artwork or rearranging their furniture.
